Karen Kegg has more than 20 years of fundraising and development experience in special events, campaigns, and major gifts.
While Karen served as a Director of Development at St. Edward’s University in Austin she was primarily responsible for the fundraising efforts for the School of Management and Business and the University’s library. Prior to St. Edward’s, she worked at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-Gulf Coast Chapter and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Both positions focused on special events fundraising and campaign strategy. While at M. D. Anderson, Karen and her team managed an international fundraising campaign for The George and Barbara Bush Endowment for Innovative Cancer Research, exceeding the endowment’s $50 million goal.
Originally from the Texas Hill Country, Karen is proud to be a part of the Austin community. She has been an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals since 1997, serving as President of the AFP Greater Austin Chapter in 2005. She currently serves on the chapter’s Finance Committee and on the Endowment Board for St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. Karen is a proud alumnus and donor to her Alma Mater, Texas Lutheran University. She and her husband, Tony, have been married over 16 years and have one son in middle school. They enjoy the outdoors and spending time at her family’s ranch in Boerne.
